Preliminary Report on a Mollusc Assemblage from St. George's Field, York

This short report describes freshwater molluscs from a pilot sample of sediments excavated near the Ouse/Fosse confluence in York. The results confirm the advisabilityof sampling for molluscs throughout the excavated sequence and show sediments at 3.23m below the modern ground level to represent riverside flood plain with autochthonous and flood-debris-derived molluscs.
