Morecambe Coast and Lune Estuary Western Mixed

This area lies to the south of Morecambe Bay, extending from Carnforth in the north to the mouth of the Fylde Estuary in the south. It includes Lancaster, Morecambe and Heysham. This is a low-lying coastal landscape, with pastures, arable land, mosses and coastal marshes. Around 22% of the area is urban and 53% is under agriculture. Only around 1% of the area is woodland and 14% is designated as Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
