Odiham Castle, Hampshire

Author(s): Graham Brown

Between January and March 2004 English Heritage undertook an archaeological investigation and analytical field survey of Odiham Castle, in order to provide a plan and analysis of the castle and the surrounding area to inform consolidation and conservation works, and to inform forthcoming publication of the 1980s excavations. The survey identified the extent of the castle and a possible approach route, and revealed evidence for its later use as a parkland landscape feature. Analysis of the deer park identified a possible deer chase and provides a fuller understanding of medieval perceptions of the park.
