Hopton Castle, Shropshire: a survey of the earthworks

In September 2005 English Heritage undertook an archaeological investigation and analytical survey of the earthworks of Hopton Castle on behalf of West Midlands Region and the Hopton Castle Preservation Trust. The survey identified numerous features of medieval and post-medieval date and the report discusses the origins, development and demise of the castle. (This report was originally numbered 20/2005 in the Archaeological Investigation Report Series.)
