Title Whitby Cliff, Whitby, North Yorkshire: An Assessment of Metalworking Debris from the Whitby Cliff Excavations
Summary 160kg of material from the Whitby Cliff excavations, thought to provide evidence for metalworking, were submitted for assessment. The material was examined for the purpose of identifying and quantifying the debris in order to ascertain what metalworking processes had taken place within the excavated area. The majority of the diagnostic evidence was found to be indicative of iron smithing.
