Assessment of Heritage at Risk from Environmental Threat

Author(s): Atkins

The report of the first stage of this project, prepared by Atkins for English Heritage, is part of the work of National Heritage Protection Plan Activity 2C1, aimed at understanding and where possible mitigating major environmental threats to heritage. The report considers the severity of risk through coastal processes, inland water inundation, extremes of wetting and drying, fire, diseases and pests and urban heat islands. It considers how risk multipliers of climate change and human action relate to these themes. The report suggests what common themes emerge and what further work needs to be done.
